The brand Asics

The Japanese Kihachiro Onitsuka founded the predecessor company of the AISCS brand in 1949 in Kobe, Japan. Initially, the sporting goods manufacturer called Onitsuka Tiger was known mainly in the basketball scene. The company's first success came in 1950, when an athlete wearing Tiger shoes won the Boston Marathon, helping the label gain more notoriety. In 1977, the Onitsuka Tiger company merged with "GTO Sports Nets & Sportswear" to form what is now known as ASICS. "ASICS" stands for the Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sana", which means "A healthy mind in a healthy body". This phrase symbolizes the motto of the sports outfitter.

In addition to sportswear and accessories such as headbands, backpacks and sports equipment, ASICS is best known for its running shoes. The special feature of the shoes lies in the specially developed GEL cushioning system of the sole. Over the years, the shoes could be optimized for running so that they are now very popular among athletes.
