The brand Puma

The sports brand Puma was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler, initially as a shoe factory in Herzogenaurach. In the same year, the first Puma soccer shoe called "Atom" was launched. For marketing reasons, Puma began early on to sign as many international competitive athletes as possible.

Initially limited to sports shoes, Puma's range expanded to include sportswear from the end of the 1960s and now also includes accessories. Among other things, Puma develops for soccer, running and training, as well as golf and motorsports.

How to recognize a Fake Puma Sneaker

With Puma, as with many other brand products, there are very many fakes on the market. How you can recognize these counterfeits, we show you in the following using the example of a Puma Icra Trainer Sneaker.

 

Puma shoe tab

 

On the inside of the shoe tab or tongue is glued a label on which you can find various information:

• Shoe size (in UK, EUR, US CM sizes)
• Country of manufacture
• Factory name (Factory)
• Item number
• Serial number
• Barcode
• a shiny stripe on the left edge of the label

Practical tip: Google the serial number you find on the label (e.g. 35674134). You should get the corresponding product as a result. In addition, the serial number must also be found on the shoe box.

 

The Puma logo

 

The Puma is part of the brand logo and is found on original shoes

• on the outside next to the shoelaces
• at the heel
• on the sole of the shoe

In the case of fraudulent fakes, the logo or the "PUMA" lettering is sometimes missing in one of the places mentioned. Also, make sure that the Puma logo and lettering on the outside of the shoe and the heel is printed cleanly and that it is not glued on the sole but is part of the sole. Anything that looks like a messy finish is an indication of a fake.

Authenticity feature of the original Puma shoes: stitching is very precise and uniform. The distance between the stitches is even and if seams are placed next to each other, they run parallel. If the seam on the shoe is poorly stitched or threads are overhanging, it is a fake.

Since Puma subjects its materials to strict guidelines, you can also often recognize a knockoff by its cheap materials and poor workmanship. For example, fakes have adhesive edges and often also emit a strong chemical smell.
